Basic components that a business needs
Website
Not in the basic components but definitely very high in the nice to have category!
Think of your website as a means of maximising the benefit of all the other types of promotion methods that you are using. The website may well be the reason a customer chooses you rather than one of your competitors.
Advertise your website.
Your website can expand other forms of advertising to include as much information as you want to provide to prospective customers at no extra cost. You can tell people why they should choose you rather than a competitor.
You can get satisfied customers to write nice things about you.
Make sure you website address is:
Make a business plan if you don't already have one.
Make a budget to achieve the Business Plan objectives. You need to make sure that you are going to make a profit and to maximise that profit you need to control costs.
Advertising can be expensive.
The list can be expanded depending on your type of business and the size of your promotions budget.
Don't expect people to find you on Google
It would be nice to think that once you have a website for your business anyone entering a search will find you but it's unlikely to happen.
Search engine optimisation is some times described as a 'black art' and there are any number of internet firms offering optimisation services for a price. BWC does not offer such a service.
If it's going to cost more than it makes - don't do it!
